Pelvic Floor Therapy (PFT) is designed to benefit patients suffering from urinary symptoms of urgency, frequency, incontinence, or cystitis as well as bowel incontinence, constipation, and pain.
Your busy life should not be put on hold to deal with the disruptive symptoms of pelvic floor disorders. That’s why our team will work with you to develop a custom treatment plan utilizing a combination of cutting-edge techniques, including electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor and exercise plans to rejuvenate the muscles and nerves of the pelvis and help you get back to your normal self.
Overview
Electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor is a painless and effective procedure that treats a wide variety of pelvic floor disorders.
During pelvic floor electrical stimulation, a low-grade electrical current stimulates the muscles to contract creating a muscular response similar to Kegels. This simple and effective office therapy is FDA approved and covered by most insurance plans.

Diagnosis
Prior to the initial treatment, patients will be asked to complete a detailed diary to document their symptoms, fluid intake, and bathroom habits as well as other data points to aid in establishing a proper diagnosis. An in-office evaluation is conducted and consists of measurements of the pelvic floor muscle tone to establish a plan of care for strengthening and stimulating the pelvic floor nerves and muscle tissues.

- Strengthening exercises
- Relaxation Techniques
What to Expect
Office therapy generally consists of one, 30-minute session per week. Electrical stimulation involves inserting a tiny probe into the vagina, which emits a very low-grade, safe electrical signal to stimulate pelvic floor nerves and muscles.
Improvement can be seen within 6 to 8 weeks of therapy.
